i’m going to start the slideshow off with a bunch of funny pictures of me painting/etch-a-sketching/etc. as a young girl to lead into talking about “initial impressions” of the occupation and the introductory portion of my research paper.
i just don’t want my presentation to be boring haha.

today was my first day working at hollister!
my first legit ‘job’
and ohmygosh it was super fun. i love organizing things and making things neat & pretty so my shift flew right by. i’m actually excited to go in tomorrow for my next shift. the people are super nice, and i wasn’t stuck in the back room like i thought i’d be. i’m happy(: my only wish is that i’d have shifts with lani haha. but maybe later on we’ll get shifts booked together<3

so unbeknownst to me, an artist by the name of bryce wong has been working on a piece featuring none other than me. one of my best friends, allen chiu, gave him a bunch of reference photos of people to paint and apparently he chose the one above. i don’t even know bryce, but today i saw his painting and it’s just so amazing. his illustrative style comes out so much in this piece. i love the tribal prints, the blue hues, and his invention of a background. but what i love most about bryce wong’s piece is this sense of beauty that i often can’t see in myself. when i look at the painting and then at the photograph allen took of me, i like each one more and more. i’m a girl of average looks but juxtaposing these pieces together for some reason just really makes me feel amazing.
